The aim of my bachelor thesis is to reduce waste caused by food packaging. The focus of the work is on retail concepts for the food products cheese and tofu. This focus is based on the fact that the amount of packaging in relation to the amount of food is particularly high for these foods. The topic is worked out in the form of a vending machine concept that enables unpackaged stores to extend their sales philosophy to the products cheese and tofu.
In the concept, a vending machine takes over the tasks of food portioning and correct storing from the employees in stores for unpackaged goods. An interface enables customers to operate the machine and displays relevant information. Included in the concept is a system for packaging-free delivery to stores. The concept is based on data collected through literature research, personal interviews with stakeholders, surveys and simulations. On this basis, the vending machine was elaborated technically and visually and visualized through digital models, simulations and schematic diagrams.
