Design of an ironing station according to ergonomic aspects in a group work of six persons. The target group selected was students who live in shared apartments, dormitories or generally in restricted spaces.
Through handle analyses, body measurements and the analysis of the ironing process, we collected important ergonomic information before the design phase. We used this information to design an ironing station that, inspired by hanging shelves, can be hooked onto the top edge of a door. With the help of this construction unused space in the area of the door can be used for ironing.
The final concept consists of three components: The rail system, the ironing board and the iron. The iron is placed on a shelf integrated into the rail system. The iron is designed as a combination of a steamer and a conventional iron. In the group work I was responsible for ergonomic studies, model construction and formal elaboration in the form of sketches.
